We are actively looking for an upmarket crime or suspense novel, on behalf of a publisher who will be branching out into this genre in early 2016, but who is already considering manuscripts. By ‘upmarket’ they mean the well-written, well-plotted, sophisticated end of the genre. Might that include your work? If those three criteria apply, then contact us – but it has to be with a damn good book!

Go searching for a Marie Marshall poem…
… and cheer yourself up. Our client informs us that the Poets Collective has just published its cheerful anthology Abandon the Shadows. Marie has a poem included, by invitation, and recommended the book to us, saying: “I know several of the poets involved and I rate them very highly.” You can find the book on Amazon or via the collective’s own web site.

News from Carmen Capuano
This update is adapted from a press release recently sent out by Carmen herself:
Our client Carmen Capuano has a lot to be smiling about this Christmas. “Professionally I have had a really good year. I have written two young adult books and a chick-lit book to add to my sci-fi series and next year I hope to return to The Owners to continue the series!”
Carmen had indeed had a busy year and this is reflected in the prestigious places in which she is now being asked to conduct author talks. “I was asked to give a talk about writing my books at an event to be hosted by international pawn brokers Suttons and Robertsons of Birmingham early next year. As many of their clientele are household names, it is a very exciting opportunity.”
“I am also giving a talk during a Ladies Luncheon event at the exquisite Lord Morton’s Tearooms in Cutnall Green soon. The beauty of this particular event is the ability to really mingle with fans and share their delight in hearing how plotlines and creative ideas unfold.”
These events are the icing on the cake for Carmen who, as we reported, has just signed to publishers P’kaboo this year. “I am delighted to be working with this publisher to bring out my novel Split Decision. Having been self-published until now, I have always enjoyed the autonomy that this afforded me but I am relishing the fresh challenges that being with a traditional publisher will provide.”
It seems Managing Director Lyz Russo of P’kaboo agrees. “We are pleased to add Carmen to our growing list of emerging authors. We plan to build on her success in England, bringing her to a world-wide audience of fans and hope that Split Decision is the first of many joint endeavours.”
The Owners series is available on Amazon and all good bookshops.

HoneyMead Books wants authors
HoneyMead Books in South Africa is looking for authors of good quality, adult-themed fiction for its e-book list. Do you have a penchant for the off-beat, the wacky, the graphic, the horrific, or the bizarre? Or do you perhaps have something serious to say about LGBT issues, gender, sexuality and so on? Or do you perhaps have a novel where the violence is no-holds-barred? Send your synopsis and sample chapters by email to this agency, and we will select a few to send onwards to HoneyMead. They’re not looking for gratuitous violence or meritless pornography, but they are prepared to accept material aimed specifically for an adult readership. - Twisted humour & Satire.
- Crime & True Crime.
- Sensual, Romance, and LGBT.
